Created date

15 12 2015

It was stated by the Head of the SAEE Sergiy Savchuk commenting on the adoption of the draft climate agreement.

The aim of the agreement is to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change in order to limit global warming to below 2 °C.

According to the agreement all countries are obliged to adopt their national plans on carbon dioxide emissions reduction, technological upgrading and adaptation to climate change.

It is expected that each year developing countries will receive financial assistance to cope with climate change.

"To achieve the ambitious goals laid down in the agreement, we have to reduce and eventually refuse to use traditional energy resources and switch to renewable energy, alternative fuels, introduce energy efficiency technologies", - Sergiy Savchuk said and added that Ukraine had successfully started a difficult way of energy efficiency development through initiatives of the Government. In particular, the state program on thermal modernisation of buildings has been launched. It is a real step to improve energy efficiency in the residential sector which is one of the most energy-consuming.
