SAEE has taken part in the completion of questionnaire for Ukraine’s obtaining of the EU candidate status

According to the orders of the Ukrainian Government and the Ministry of Energy, the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE) has taken part in filling in the questionnaire of the European Commission. It will be a basis to make a conclusion on Ukraine's status as a candidate for EU membership.

The SAEE together with the Ministry of Energy has completed a questionnaire in the field of energy. There are important issues: energy strategy and security, public policy in energy efficiency and renewable energy.

In particular, the Agency outlines European integration reforms in energy efficiency and "green" energy in Ukraine.

"We have given clear answers as for the legislative steps taken in accordance with the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement", commented Valeriy Bezus.

Significant changes include the adoption of the Energy Efficiency Law, the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan until 2030, the introduction of incentive and financial instruments and much more.

"Ukraine has been working to create a common future with the EU: with a high standard of living, with energy available to all, with an energy-efficient, low-carbon but competitive economy. To do this, we apply a systematic approach and develop legislation, taking into account European directives and the principles of the EU Green Deal", said Valeriy Bezus.

At the same time, it should be noted that it is not just a matter of implementing EU legislation. The issue is much broader - energy transition and security. Today's reality in the world is an additional argument to accelerate “green” transformation in both Ukraine and the EU.

Note:

It will be recalled that the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen personally handed over the questionnaire to Volodymyr Zelensky during a visit to Kyiv on April 8 this year.

On April 18, 2022 President Volodymyr Zelenskyy handed over a completed questionnaire for Ukraine’s obtaining of the EU candidate status to Matti Maasikas.
