The Agency's representatives took part in the Ukrainian-Austrian business seminar "Austria Showcase: Energy efficiency. Renewable energy" that was held in Kyiv on December 4, 2014. The Director of State Regulation Department of the Agency Oleksandr Tron made a speech and informed participants about the measures implemented by the Agency in terms of the legal framework improvement in the sphere of energy efficiency and about the developed mechanisms aimed to replace natural gas consumption by population, condominiums and entities. "The mechanism of state support for public to install boilers using any fuels and energy (excluding natural gas) has been already launched and it is successful. Mechanisms for condominiums and businesses are being elaborated now", said Oleksandr Tron.

"For 10 months in 2014 renewable energy facilities that work under "green" tariff have produced 1.71 billion kWh of electricity. I want to underline that these figures were achieved under conditions when supply of electricity produced by solar and wind power plants located in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea to the United Energy System of Ukraine has been suspended since April 2014", said the Director of Renewable Energy Development Department Igor Kovaliov. In addition, according to him, in October the Government approved a National Renewable Energy Action Plan by 2020 developed by the Agency. The plan provides for measures to achieve 11% share of energy from renewable energy sources in final energy consumption of the country by 2020, which is similar to the use of nearly 9.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

During the workshop participants had an opportunity to study the Austrian practice in the spheres of energy efficiency and renewable energy.
