There is no alternative to alternative energy in Ukraine now
It was reported by the People's Deputy of Ukraine Oleksandr Dombrovskyi during his speech at the 5th specialized workshop "How to connect renewable energy facilities to the grid and get a feed-in tariff" organized by Innovative Business Centre (IBCentre) and Association of Alternative Fuels and Renewable Energy of Ukraine (APEU). "Ukraine has experience in alternative energy use that should be introduced. Sun, wind, biomass and biogas are those components that need to be developed", - said the People's Deputy of Ukraine Oleksandr Dombrovskyi.
In turn, the Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE) Serhiy Savchuk said that nowadays alternative energy development was an issue of national security of Ukraine.
"The government makes decisive steps towards reforming renewable energy sphere. For four months it has approved a number of specific decisions regarding not only natural gas replacement for such groups of population as consumers and public institutions, but also increase of competitive advantages for renewable energy market participants", - said Serhiy Savchuk.
In October 2014 the government approved the National Renewable Energy Action Plan by 2020 developed by the Agency. The plan provides for measures to achieve by 2020 11% share of energy generated from renewable energy sources in final energy consumption of the country, which is equivalent to the use of nearly 9.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
Also the Agency developed the Draft Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Electricity". According to S. Savchuk, the Draft Law cancels requirements for a "local content" to receive a "green" tariff; expands the term "biomass" for agricultural products that would help increase electricity production from biomass; stimulates the use of small wind turbines in households (by providing "green" tariff for them); increases the size of the "green" tariff for electricity generated from biomass and biogas to achieve economically attractive payback period in these spheres.
