The State Energy Efficiency Agency of Ukraine and GIZ agreed to intensify joint work in energy efficiency in the context of the country's recoveryCreated date
28 03 2023This was discussed at the meeting of the Head of the State Energy Efficiency Agency (SAEE), Anna Zamazeeva, with the head of the GIZ project "Promotion of energy efficiency and implementation of the EU Directive on energy efficiency in Ukraine" Ima Khrenova-Shymkina.
Anna Zamazeeva outlined the plans and strategy of work on the development of energy efficiency in various sectors of the economy, taking into account the needs of recovery, and expressed support for GIZ initiatives within the framework of the joint project.
"It is especially important to work with local self-government bodies of all levels. Implementation of energy efficiency measures can become one of the levers of decentralization. As the regional economy has been severely affected, the fiscal capacity of territorial communities has now fallen sharply. Therefore, the savings that communities receive thanks to energy-efficient projects can be directed to their development," said Anna Zamazeeva.
"All the programs and measures that we will develop and implement will have a positive impact on the regional economy," added the Head of the SAEE.
Ima Khrenova-Shymkina is also convinced: "Energy efficiency is the basis for the green recovery of Ukraine. It is necessary not just to rebuild, but to have a new concept of the country's development based on energy efficiency and decarbonization measures".
Analyzing today's priorities, the head of the project spoke about the work done in the main directions: assistance in the development of legislation on energy efficiency, support for communities and enterprises, as well as training and upgrading of the qualifications of specialists in this field.
According to the results of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness for further active interaction aimed at a practical result.
Legislation adapted to European requirements, an effective energy management system, modernization of buildings and energy-efficient construction, high competitiveness of industrial enterprises - all this and much more should be components of the country's sustainable future.
