Ukraine should become an indispensable part of the European Green Deal not only to tackle impacts of the climate change together with the EU, but also in the framework of its economic development strategy, to enhance security and create new opportunities for Ukrainian business, Deputy Prime Minister European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said in a statement following the outcomes of the sixth meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council chaired by Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk on January 28, in Brussels.

"The European Green Deal is not a slogan but a strategy for economic upturn. Ukraine will accomplish two things: engagement in the EU efforts to implement its agreement and receive EU support in the implementation of our green transition plans," the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

Dmytro Kuleba stressed that in a joint statement following the 6th Association Council meeting, Ukraine and the EU agreed to further cooperate on decarbonisation and environmental protection within the framework of the European Green Deal

"It will be beneficial for our economy and energy security, it will be new opportunities for our business," he said.

The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that the European Green Deal is not just an environmental initiative of the European Commission, but a fundamental approach that will determine the main direction of the European Union's reforms for the coming decades. In his opinion, it is essential for Ukraine to work in synergy with the EU in the development and implementation of this ambitious agreement, which will positively affect the depth and speed of the strategic course.
