Ukraine demands the exclusion of russia from IRENA

Created date

On June 6, 2023 russia committed another act of terrorism in Ukraine – explosion of Kakhovska hydropower plant.

russia, which blew up one of the large hydropower plants in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, has no right to be a member of world organizations in the clean energy.

«Until now, despite Ukraine's numerous appeals, russia - an aggressor country, a terrorist - continues to be a member of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). This is unacceptable! This is not forgiven!», - stressed the Head of the State Energy Efficiency Agency of Ukraine (SAEE) Anna Zamazeeva.

russia continues to kill Ukrainians, commits the genocide of the Ukrainian people, shamelessly blackmails the whole world with nuclear disasters, resorts to constant energy terror of our country, and now to the largest ecocide in Europe.

The lives of thousands of civilians are in danger because of the Kakhovska hydropower plant undermined by russians. Dozens of settlements are at risk. Fauna and flora are destroyed.

There are additional risks for the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and nuclear safety in the whole Europe!

How many crimes against humanity, against universal human values of sustainable development must take place for the world to finally understand that russia has no place in the civilized community?!

«It is unacceptable that russia is still a member in the authoritative international organization IRENA, which unites more than 160 countries in the fight for a sustainable future and is ready to switch everything to renewable energy sources! Our position is unchanged: we demand the exclusion of the russian representative from the IRENA!», - assured Anna Zamazeeva.

The State Energy Efficiency Agency of Ukraine has already prepared a relevant appeal to IRENA. It will be sent through the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to IRENA Dmytro Senik.
