Hanna Zamazeyeva: “Mykolaiv Region is not only a frontline area but also a place of active energy-efficient and green initiatives already being implemented.”
This was emphasized by the Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency during a joint meeting with the leadership of the Agency, the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, and representatives of the Mykolaiv Regional Office for Decarbonization and Energy Efficiency.
Last year, with the support of European partners from the Kingdom of Denmark, the Regional Office for Decarbonization and Energy Efficiency began operating in Mykolaiv. Its goal is to unite the efforts of regional and city authorities to implement practical energy-efficiency solutions in communities and attract investments in green projects.
“First and foremost, the Office actively helps local governments, municipal enterprises, and businesses prepare and submit projects to the Ukrainian Decarbonization Fund. The first loan from the Fund in the region was received by the city of Voznesensk: UAH 18.5 million for replacing 3,420 old streetlights with modern, energy-efficient LED lamps, which reduced electricity consumption by more than 50%,” noted Hanna Zamazeyeva.
Within just a year of active work, more than 20 communities in the Mykolaiv region have already received professional support and advice on saving resources, reducing budget expenditures, and attracting investments in green projects.
A new large-scale step is the construction of a solar power plant in the Vesnyanske community. The project was submitted through the national digital platform DREAM — a public investment management system for communities that ensures transparency and efficiency.
The project received support from the Ukrainian Decarbonization Fund in the form of a loan of UAH 90 million. As a result, a solar power plant with a capacity of 6.01 MW will be built, along with a modern energy storage system of 2 MW (capacity — 6 MWh). This will ensure stable electricity supply even during peak hours or emergency outages.
It is expected that the new plant will generate up to 8 GWh of clean electricity annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by more than 7,000 tons per year.
Vitalii Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, emphasized during the meeting: “Our task is not to wait for better conditions but to build the future right now. Energy independence is not only about the economy but also about the security of our communities.”
Another important initiative is set to start this September — energy efficiency lessons for primary schoolchildren. The first interactive classes will take place in Mykolaiv schools.
The Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency, together with the First Deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv, Vitalii Lukov, visited one of the schools where modern methods of teaching children the principles of rational energy consumption were presented.
During the visit, Hanna Zamazeyeva also inspected cogeneration units certified by the State Agency on Energy Efficiency in 2024–2025 under new EU standards.
In addition, a meeting was held with the leadership of Mykolaivoblteploenergo regarding the modernization of the city’s heating systems.
We are grateful to the regional leadership for their strategic vision and openness to change. Even under martial law, Mykolaiv region already stands as an example of resilient development — implementing innovative solutions and attracting investment into the green economy.
