Legislative changes in the energy efficiency, new joint projects for communities, national scale instruments - all this and much more was discussed during the meeting of the Head of the State Energy Efficiency Agency of Ukraine (SAEE) Anna Zamazeeva and Ima Khrenova-Shymkina – Director of the GIZ Project “Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Implementation of the EU Directive on Energy Efficiency in Ukraine”.

"We are convinced: the energy-efficient projects implementation, for example, in public buildings, will make it possible to save and free up funds for the reconstruction and further community development," the Head of the SAEE emphasized.

"To implement this idea in our country, the European principle "Energy Efficiency First" must be implemented at all levels and in all sectors! And together with our German partners, we know how to do it," said Anna Zamazeeva.

During the meeting, the parties focused on immediate plans and important directions:

• changes to the legislation for the qualitative implementation of the EU directive purpose in energy efficiency;
• national energy monitoring base, primarily in the budget sector;
• principle "Energy Efficiency First" implementation;
• projects for energy independence of public buildings in Ukrainian communities launch;
• energy-efficient purchases and much more.

Besides, the meeting participants discussed cooperation on the National Decarbonization Platform, which will become a platform for everyone who wants to implement energy-efficient projects in Ukraine.
