The new wind power plant is an evidence of Ukraine's invincibility and its struggle for energy freedom

This was emphasized by the Head of the State Energy Efficiency Agency of Ukraine (SAEE), Anna Zamazeeva, after visiting a new wind power plant in one of the country's regions. This is the first wind farm built during and despite the full-scale military aggression of russia.

It is the first row of the station. The project initiator plans to increase the total capacity of the wind farm up to 500 MW, which will make it the largest one in Ukraine and Eastern Europe.

"Despite the war, Ukrainians continue to make large-scale projects in renewable energy. Another contribution on the way to energy independence and decarbonization of the economy! In extremely difficult conditions, during russia's energy terror," the Head of the SAEE commented.

"Clean energy and energy efficiency! This should be the response of the civilized world to the "bloody" gas and oil of the aggressor, - stressed Anna Zamazeeva. – With such projects, Ukrainians show the whole world how to fight against those who turn energy into a weapon, how to protect one's right to energy freedom!".

Anna Zamazeeva also said that two years ago she had the opportunity to participate in the initiation of such a project.

"This is a special event for me. After all, actually two years ago, on May 25, 2021, when I was heading the Mykolaiv Regional Council, together with the regional administration and the company, we signed a memorandum of cooperation that will contribute to the economic and social development of the region thanks to the wind farm construction," the leader said.

Indeed, Ukraine has a huge potential for wind energy development. According to experts, during the period 2018-2022, wind turbines were installed in Ukraine with a total capacity of 1.3 GW.

Despite all today's difficulties, Ukraine continues its path to energy independence and decarbonization. One of the country's ambitious goals is to achieve climate neutrality by 2060.

"During the reconstruction, Ukraine will emphasize energy-efficient and clean technologies. The President emphasizes this. This is the principled position of Oleksandr Kubrakov's team from the Ministry for Restoration of Ukraine. We have many plans, which we are implementing step by step," the Head reminded.

Therefore, at the state level, work is being carried out on the development of renewable power sector: improving legislation and eliminating barriers to its development.

The State Energy Efficiency Agency of Ukraine, in its turn, has developed the Draft National Renewable Energy Action Plan until 2030, which foresees a 2-fold increase in the share of electricity from renewable sources: from 14% in 2020 to 25% in 2030. This requires the construction of 9.2 GW of new capacities of renewable electricity facilities, of which 3.7 GW wind power plants.

The promising development of wind energy will be an important component not only of the energy security of the country, but also of hydrogen energy and the low-carbon economy in general.
