Energy Efficiency in Focus: State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv
The State Agency on Energy Efficiency has formalized a partnership with Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation. This initiative aims to shape a new generation of energy efficiency professionals to support regional development and strengthen the state.
“This is a prime example of how theoretical knowledge, academic training, and practical government experience can unite for a common goal — enhancing the state’s energy independence and sustainable development. Our current cooperation with the University is deep, productive, and meaningful, and we are confident it will only grow stronger in the future, unlocking new opportunities for students, researchers, and public institutions,” said Hanna Zamazieieva, Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency.
A key area of cooperation is the modernization of the Master’s program "Local Self-Government", which now includes a new educational module — "Energy-Efficient Development of Territories". The goal is to train specialists capable of implementing energy efficiency policies at the local level.
In today’s reality, energy efficiency is not just a timely topic — it is a pressing need. The demand for qualified professionals in this field is growing each year, and the country needs people with in-depth knowledge who are ready to drive change.
«We’re not just talking about energy efficiency — we are shaping practitioners who will bring this knowledge into communities, cities, and regions. This year, the first cohort of students will complete the first year of the updated program. And I’m convinced — this is just the beginning of something big,» emphasized Hanna Zamazieieva.
The program is tailored for professionals currently working or planning to work in local self-government bodies, administrative service centers, NGOs, and executive authorities. Its aim is to equip specialists to build sustainable development models for territories and ensure the efficient and transparent use of energy resources.
The Agency is always open to talented youth, offering students opportunities for internships and hands-on experience in real projects. At the same time, its experts actively contribute by lecturing, holding seminars, and participating as guest speakers — a valuable knowledge exchange that enhances the quality of student training.
Signing the Memorandum is just the beginning of a partnership grounded in responsibility, trust, and a shared vision for the future. Joint efforts in education and energy efficiency are a strategic investment in developing a skilled workforce for Ukraine, reinforcing its energy independence, promoting sustainable growth, and boosting global competitiveness.
