Hanna Zamazieieva Participates in the Annual Europa Forum Wachau 2025 in Krems, Austria

19 June 2025

Hanna Zamazieieva, Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, took part in the annual Europa Forum Wachau 2025, held in Krems, Austria. Within the framework of the IV Economic Salon, she joined a strategic discussion on the economic and energy challenges emerging amid global crises, geopolitical instability, and growing competition in the international market. The panel discussion placed a special emphasis on Europe’s energy security and Ukraine’s role in strengthening it.

“Ukraine has all the prerequisites to become a powerful energy hub for Europe. Our potential lies in the development of biomethane and hydrogen clusters, the export of green energy, and a flexible transition to decentralized energy systems. Biomass resources, in particular, deserve special attention — with the use of Austrian technologies, they can be transformed into an effective and sustainable tool for energy transformation,”
noted Hanna Zamazieieva.

Leading representatives of Austrian business and the energy sector joined the discussion, including:

  • Kari Ochsner, President of the Federation of Industry of Lower Austria
  • Andreas Matthä, CEO of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB)
  • Achim Kaspar, Member of the Executive Board at VERBUND, Austria’s leading energy company

The participants highlighted the importance of Ukraine’s reconstruction as a driver of Europe’s overall economic growth. Special attention was given to the post-war rebuilding of Ukraine as a key engine for revitalizing the European economy.

“Ukraine’s reconstruction is one of the three main catalysts for Europe’s economic growth. According to European economists, investment in Ukraine could reach €600–700 billion, making it the largest reconstruction effort since World War II,”
emphasized Kari Ochsner, President of the Federation of Industry of Lower Austria.

Austria remains a reliable strategic partner for Ukraine in the energy sector. Its experience in hydropower, bioenergy, energy-efficient construction, green technologies, and energy saving is of great value for the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

“We are grateful to our international partners for their strong stance, solidarity, and support during this challenging time for Ukraine. Today, we stand together against Russian energy terror. Tomorrow, we will build a new, resilient, and green energy future for all of Europe — together. What lies ahead is deep, systemic, and mutually beneficial cooperation,”
concluded Hanna Zamazieieva.
