Hanna Zamazieieva: Ukrainian businesses can strengthen their energy resilience and reduce energy resource costs with state support

The State Agency on Energy Efficiency is launching a series of short, practical explainers on how Ukrainian businesses can obtain state financial support. And we begin with the key question:

Who is eligible for financing from JSC “Decarbonization Fund of Ukraine”?

Sole proprietors (individual entrepreneurs) and legal entities can receive funding in the form of subsidized loans at 5–9% or leasing for energy efficiency and decarbonization measures.

Support amounts:

• up to UAH 90 million — for a single measure;

• up to UAH 150 million — total for one company or a group of companies (several measures may be implemented).

Funds may be directed toward installing solar power plants, battery energy storage systems, thermal modernization of enterprises, cogeneration, energy-efficient equipment, and much more.

Participation conditions are максимально simple. A project must meet only two criteria:

• energy efficiency or replacement of grid energy consumption;

• decarbonization — reduction of CO₂ emissions.

Requirements for recipients:

• be a business entity registered under Ukrainian legislation and operating for at least one year;

• have no ties to the aggressor/occupying state or terrorist organizations;

• beneficiaries of private companies must be individuals who are residents of Ukraine.
