Hanna Zamazieieva: We have taken an important step towards expanding Ukrainian-Austrian partnership for the energy-efficient development of the country!

02 April 2025

The State Energy Efficiency Agency of Ukraine has strengthened its important cooperation with Austrian partners to promote energy efficiency, decarbonization, and alternative fuels.

At the Ukrainian-Austrian Economic Forum, which took place recently in Kyiv, the Head of the State Energy Efficiency Agency, Hanna Zamazieieva, signed memorandums of cooperation with three influential Austrian institutions: the Lower Austrian Federation of Industries, the Lower Austrian Economic Chamber, and the company OCHSNER Waermepumpen GmbH.

"We understand the importance of such cooperation and have taken concrete steps to develop it by signing two important memorandums with Austrian partners. This is not just a formality, but a significant step towards expanding the partnership between our countries in key areas: energy efficiency, decarbonization, and the development of alternative fuels," emphasized Hanna Zamazieieva.

The new partner of the State Energy Efficiency Agency, the Lower Austrian Federation of Industries, is part of the Federation of Austrian Industries, which unites over 5,000 companies. For almost 80 years, the Federation has played an active role in shaping legislative initiatives and influencing Austrian state policy.

Equally influential is the Lower Austrian Economic Chamber, which is part of the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKO). The organization unites 540,000 companies and is not only a business association but also a powerful institution that protects the interests of entrepreneurs, provides consultations, and promotes energy efficiency development in the region.

Another strategic partner is the Austrian company OCHSNER Waermepumpen GmbH — the world’s first company to start the development and production of high-efficiency heat pumps. Thanks to OCHSNER technologies, natural energy can be used much more efficiently: up to 75% of the heat is obtained from the environment without the use of fossil fuels.

The signed memorandum of cooperation with OCHSNER opens new opportunities for the post-war reconstruction of the country. Currently, heat pump technologies are used in only 5% of Ukraine’s public sector, but their widespread implementation will reduce energy consumption by three times compared to electric boilers.

"For Ukraine, it is extremely important to adopt the best European practices of partnership, especially in strategic areas such as energy efficiency and industrial development. Our countries have enormous potential for further cooperation. We are grateful for the support of Ukraine and are convinced that, through joint efforts, we can achieve resilience, independence, and security," added the Head of the State Energy Efficiency Agency.

We sincerely thank our Austrian partners, particularly the President of the Lower Austrian Federation of Industries, Kari Oksner, and the Vice President of the Lower Austrian Economic Chamber, Christian Moser, for this important step in strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Overall, the Forum served as a platform for an important dialogue between the governments and businesses of the two countries. It brought together representatives from the Federal State of Lower Austria, Austrian companies, international organizations, and Ukrainian authorities.

We are confident that this Ukrainian-Austrian partnership will serve as a foundation for real energy-efficient changes in our country!
