A significant step for the development of Ukraine’s energy-efficient and modern IT market
The Government of Ukraine has approved a new Technical Regulation on the ecodesign of servers and data storage products, developed by the State Agency on Energy Efficiency.
The Regulation establishes clear rules for all manufacturers and importers of servers and data storage systems, aimed at improving the energy efficiency and environmental performance of such products.
The new requirements apply to office and enterprise servers, multi-node servers, and online data storage devices using SSD and HDD technologies.
The Regulation harmonizes Ukrainian standards with European norms (EU Regulation No. 2019/424) and is designed not to restrict but to stimulate market development: compliance with the requirements helps reduce energy consumption, improve equipment reliability, and align Ukrainian standards with those of the EU.
The Resolution will enter into force six months after its publication to allow manufacturers and importers time to prepare. Until then, the sale and use of servers and data storage systems will remain permitted even without compliance with the new requirements.
