Supporting educational institutions in training the next generation of specialists

On December 9-13, 2024 Energy Efficiency Week 2024 brought together for the second time dozens of decision-makers, experts and enthusiasts from Ukraine's energy sector and became an important platform for discussing current challenges and prospects for the development of Ukraine's energy sector and drawing attention to the development of state building standards.

One of the pivotal events of the Week 2024 was the conference "Scientific Approach: New Standards of Comfort and Efficiency", which was held on December 12, 2024 at the State Research Institute of Building Structures in Kyiv.

During the panel discussion "Supporting Educational Institutions in Training the Next Generation of Specialists", Svitlana Pasichna, representative of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, shared the Agency's experience and successful cooperation in training specialists in energy efficiency within the framework of the EU’s Programme to support education ERASMUS+ UKRENERGY.

The Programme provides for close cooperation among Ukrainian and European universities, which will allow for the integration of advanced educational methods, the introduction of innovative educational modules in accordance with the principles of the Bologna process and ensure practical training for students who will be familiar with European and Ukrainian legislation, in line with the trend of state-of-the-art technologies and in demand on the labour market.

“The project started in 2023, combining the efforts of 8 Ukrainian and 4 European universities to create master's courses in energy efficiency of buildings. This is the first experience for the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine. The final version of the textbooks will be presented online in the spring. The project will also include internships for Ukrainian junior teaching staff that will take place at European universities,”  Svitlana emphasized.

The event brought together government representatives, including the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, as well as relevant committees of the Verkhovna Rada, technical experts, professional associations, businesses, public organizations and local communities.

In-depth: Energy Efficiency Week 2024 is a major event dedicated to energy efficiency and energy saving, which this year will make special attention on supporting local authorities. The key focus of the event will be to promote sustainable development of communities based on energy efficiency principles.
