The State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving discussed with the European Business Association the prospects for developing technical regulation in the field of energy efficiency.

The State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving held a working meeting with representatives of the European Business Association (EBA), the largest union of international businesses in Ukraine.

The main topic of discussion was strengthening cooperation in improving technical regulation in the field of energy efficiency, with a particular focus on ecodesign and energy labelling of equipment.

Key points at the center of the discussion included the development of the legislative framework, harmonization of Ukrainian technical regulations with European Union standards, enhancement of compliance control, and the introduction of modern energy labelling mechanisms in Ukraine.

"Technical regulation must align with the best European practices. Improving the regulatory framework, implementing modern control mechanisms, and adapting European standards are steps that will open opportunities for Ukrainian manufacturers and lay the foundation for integration into the European economic area," emphasized Maria Malaia, First Deputy Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency.

Key topics discussed during the meeting included:

• The Agency’s plans to develop new regulations on energy labelling and ecodesign;
• The importance of coordinated efforts between government authorities and businesses to ensure compliance with technical regulations;
• Features of using EU energy labels for specific product types;
• The possibility of introducing QR codes on energy labels for products sold exclusively in the Ukrainian market.

An open and constructive dialogue between the state and business enables timely responses to modern challenges, encourages innovation, and lays the groundwork for the advancement of energy efficiency in Ukraine.

The meeting marked an important step toward integrating Ukraine into the European technical regulation framework and further strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors.
